DESCRIPTION:Hosted by Edgewood PD, NM HIDTA and BBS Narcotics Enforcement Training\nThis course will cover areas involving the use of informants in criminal investigations. Some\nof the areas to be covered will include how to recruit informants, use of informants in criminal\ninvestigations, proper documentation and department policy. The course will cover legal and\nethical aspects in the use of informants by law enforcement officers which includes selection\nof informants and minimal qualification for a person to be utilized as an informant. The\nstudents will learn investigative techniques to minimize the exposure or identification of\ninformants. The course will also look at the civil liability of working informants and how to\nminimize those liabilities.\nThe instructor for the class will be Brian Sallee. Brian retired as detective from the\nAlbuquerque Police Department. He was a police officer for 40 years and spent over 31 years\nworking narcotics units. Brian has provided training to police officers from all 50 states as\nwell as foreign police officers. He has written two books; Narcotics Investigations: Working\nand Surviving and The Methamphetamine Handbook: What You Need to Know.\nClick to View Training Flyer\n
